The rehearsal thus far has been honestly an amazing one, with clear times of loss of focus within the group but we've always tried and succeded to keep the energy up. The beginning of it all was us deciding to base the poem on a Night Club and we decided to show the audience this clearly we would seperately go to the middle of the stage hold a pose of what we thought would be suitable in a bar picture. When this came we were able to tackle different levels and create a still image which would be effective and would be the catalyst of the story. Moving on from this we then had a chance to break the fourth wall with the audience and move to their table to stand behind them. Most recently we added this feature of everyone going off from the still image saying a line and making it physical while saying it. This then leads to everyone going off to the table and this leaves me, the last to deliver the line in the middle of the stage.
The process then carries on with the group and most of all the teacher contributing well with ideas and us backing them or wanting changes. This thing of changing voices and disorienting them to really creep the audience out which once again breaks the fourth wall with the inroduction of the clown. This would have him going around asking people to pop ballons. We also decided that each scene would have their own set of lights, for example, the 'Perv Meter' would have lights moving up and down slowly and 'The Night Out' was a trippin' out kind of scene so all the lights move fast and viciously.
Now with the new addition of having specific movements and something for the other actors on the outside to do, the transitions look much more stronger and held with a mass amount of energy.
The rest will follow with a post about the performance tomorrow..
